Dr. Ohta: Day 4 – Connecticut

3 December 2015

Today I visited Ocean State AH again. There were a lot of learning, the time I had was absolutely priceless.

First of all, I had a long discussion with Gary Block, the owner of Ocean State AH. We passionately discussed about the clinic management. I was wrong about the number of staff at Ocean State AH, it was 160 staff rather than 100! Our discussion was so intense and long, done in English (of course), I felt like my brain got suddenly frozen!

He told me about his goals and the current problems as well as the hospital’s mission. I felt a true empathy and it talked for itself.

There were also a few interesting surgical cases today, which I had rarely seen, and a few occasions which I noticed surgeons here use different approaches to familiar cases.

The 2 days I spent at Ocean State AH was an excellent time and I am so grateful to Dr Gary.

He also showed me a lot of nice things and places in Ocean State AH.

I have to mention the great care the all staff (vets to vet nurses) offered me during my stay, it made me feel like I was a member of the team, not a visitor.
Thank you so much.

I would like to bring some helpful tips back to my home clinic, some of which I determined to introduce with passion.

Best regards,
George
